Alessandro Bosshard is an architect based in Zurich. His work focuses on transformation projects and building within existing structures, primarily in the field of housing. He works on a selected number of projects from initial potential analysis and strategic planning through to construction and site management.
His practice is informed by the continuous exchange between professional work and academic teaching. Since 2020, he has been a lecturer at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU).
Bosshard gained international recognition in 2018 through Svizzera 240: House Tour, awarded the Golden Lion for Best National Participation at the 16th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale. Developed together with Li Tavor, Matthew van der Ploeg and Ani Vihervaara, the project examined contemporary housing in Switzerland through an immersive spatial installation.
The work was subsequently presented internationally, including at the NGV Triennial in Melbourne, the Sharjah Architecture Triennial, Drawing Matter’s Alternative Histories exhibitions in London and Belgium, and the Swiss Art Awards.
From 2015 to 2020, Bosshard was part of the teaching and research faculty at ETH Zurich, Chair of Architecture and Urban Design led by Prof. A. Lehnerer. In 2020, he taught a visiting design studio at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT). He studied architecture at ETH Zurich and the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
